GTL is a non-partisan leadership program dedicated to providing leadership education, community development and civic engagement for the overall care and commitment to our Tucson community. We seek candidates with leadership potential and unique qualities that will enrich and broaden the GTL program and experience. Our goal is to create a diverse class with participants from different career, geographic, racial, ethnic, economic, religious and political backgrounds with a balance of age and gender.

The program is designed for individuals with a strong interest in civic leadership. GTL provides a platform to create understanding of community and critical issues; encourages discussion, debate and problem-solving; cultivates appreciation for differing perspectives; and inspires leadership at all levels of our community.

Education: leaders of tomorrow
Since 1980, GTL has graduated more than 800 participants and expanded their leadership pursuits. Through a competitive application process, we select approximately 40 individuals to participate in our 10 month long leadership program. Our goals for the class are: 1) to engage in relevant community and regional issues; 2) to connect and engage with political, community and cultural leaders and, 3) to encourage each participant to implement a community and individual leadership practice.

Our curriculum is comprised of experiential/field components, social service components and leadership practice components. The ten month program is held once a month during work hours (7:30 am to 4:30 pm) on the second Friday of the month. We start in August and wrap up in June. Included in the program are an Orientation/Retreat, a mid-program Leadership Retreat and a Graduation Ceremony.

Investment: empowerment of community and individuals
We link individuals to community opportunities, business training, mentoring, and a support network that can help them start or expand their leadership.

Connection: opportunities and network
As the only civic leadership program in Tucson, we engage the public, private and academic sectors to provide a stimulating platform for our leadership program and serve our community.

Please direct questions regarding the program and the application process to Wendy Martin (wendy@tucsonleadership.org) or 520.512.5GTL (5485).

With gratitude,

Wendy Martin
