Damion Alexander receives GTL Alumni Excellence Award

Greater Tucson Leadership is pleased to recognize the outstanding volunteer efforts of a member of the GTL alumni community with the recently created Alumni Excellence Award.  The distinguished recipient of this award has demonstrated a significant long-term commitment to Tucson, represents the highest ideals of service and loyalty to the community, and is actively utilizing the leadership skills learned during their time in the GTL program.
We are proud to announce GTL class of 2008 graduate Damion Alexander as our inaugural honoree!  Damion is a successful Real Estate Agent at Long Realty in Tucson and serves as the Pima County Parks and Recreation Commissioner.  Damion’s service to the community is overarching and vast.
Damion is a central fixture to local government and non-profit meetings.  He’s a huge advocate for The LOOP and you will see him biking on it often.   He is currently the Executive Director for the Arizona Bicycle Center, serves on the Board of Directors of Look! Save a Life and the Endurance Project, is a vocal advocate for the Honey Bee Trail Access and bans on Distracted Driving/Texting and Driving, and he’s a curator for the Community Ride List, The LOOP Facebook Page, and Bike Park Plan for Downtown Tucson.  He volunteers for El Grupo Cycling as a coach, and was very involved in promoting Fox Theatre and raising awareness of the event space after it completed its multi-million-dollar restoration in 2006.
Damion is a passionate photographer and has photographed and promoted countless cycling events, raised funds for dozens of charities, dressed as Santa in Winterhaven, and has shared his photography to help promote tourism and infrastructure support in Tucson.
Damion will be honored at the 65th Annual Tucson Man and Woman of the Year and Founders Award Gala on Saturday February 3, 2018 at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort.
